My son ate a quarter

Jenn
So my 3 year old was playing in my 16 year olds closet. When my daughter got home, being a normal big sister yelled at him to get out of her room 🙄. So he ran out. But he had found money in there and hid it in his mouth. When he ran out, I'm assuming he swallowed it.  He came to me and said this exactly " mom I put money in my mouth, now it's in my stomach and it hurts, call dr to take it out. At first I didn't know if I believed him, he wasn't crying and he was running around. Plus he is at that age were he likes to tell stories. Then he keep saying he ate money. So I called people I knew they said to let him be he will pass it. But he kept on saying it felt scratchy. I called his Dr. She said bring him in just to be on the safe side, most likely they'll do an X-ray and send him home. Well they did an X-ray, it's a quarter and we have to wait till morning to do surgery. We have to hVe it surgically removed because it's stuck in his esophagus. I feel so bad I was debating on bringing him. I don't think I can physically swallow a quarter and I'm a grown woman. Update
After 11 hours of being here the surgically removed the coin. It turned out to be a penny
We're waiting for him to wake up, fully wake up and eat food to see if he throws it up. His throats will be swore, and his esophagus irritated. It was red and inflammed. They put him back on his acid reflux meds for a few weeks. I'm so glad it's over with. I swear if this boy was my first I'd have no more kids lol. It's a good thing he is our last. We have 4 daughters so much different. But he is my baby. Even when he is 40.
