Inducing without meds?

So with my son, I was induced at 37 weeks cause I went from 2 cm to 4 over night. They gave me pitocin. I didn't know what was supposed to happen, so I went with it and got an epidural too. I don't want that again! I want to try and labor as long as possible without meds and even then, get a low dose epidural. My plan, and I've still gotta talk to my Dr, is to see if he can do anything to jumpstart labor WITHOUT drugs. I will be just a couple of days from 40 weeks on the weekend of thanksgiving. I really hope she stays in past then. I need some holiday food! But anyway. What ways are there for your dr to naturally induce? It's the weekend before my due date so she will be healthy and full term. I know babies come when they want, but I'm want to try to wing it so she'll be born around the weekend. It's gonna be tough with my husband working and our son. I don't want him to miss her birth.
