PPROM update

Ashley
Since it is passed midnight I can post that we have officially made it to 24 weeks with ruptured membranes!
My water broke at 19 weeks and I was admitted to the hospital at 21 weeks. The doctors asked if I wanted them to induce me so that I could miscarry and hold my child. They told me I had about a 1% chance if this baby making it to viability. I spent the first few days begging god to let me keep my son. I had nightmares of having to deliver this perfectly miniature baby who couldn't live without me, having to hold him and know I would never take him home.  Every little pain could have been an infection or labor.  But it wasn't.  After 5 weeks of bedrest and trying to hold onto hope, WE MADE IT TO 24 WEEKS!  Even though my hospital considers 23 weeks as viable we are equal parts excited/relieved/terrified to hit the magic 24. My son now has a 50/50 shot. And even better odds since he weighs over a pound.
So now we celebrate our new found hope. This magic number that gives our baby a chance.
Little man still has zero fluid after 5 weeks. He accumulates a tiny bit throught the day, but it fluctuates. He's had a few problems pinching his cord but has done well with fixing it so far.  His monitoring looks great, especially for a baby so small. He is measuring a week behind in size but his weight is GREAT at 1lb 2oz as of Monday.  Overall we are both doing great and far exceeding all doctors expectations.
The bottom black is just a shadow but you can see at the top where the uterus is laying directly on top of him.  His mouth is open trying to swallow a teeny tiny pocket of fluid that's tangled in his umbilical cord.
