Who is supposed to throw the mother a baby shower?

I'm due February 22nd! This is my first pregnancy so I have no idea what the proper etiquette is with setting up a baby shower. Am I supposed to plan it myself or just hope someone brings it up and offers to throw one for me? I feel weird just throwing it myself..

Nobody is supposed to throw anyone a shower, it's not a requirement...

But usually it's the best friend, mother or mil, or sister or close cousin.

My mom and MIL are doing it together.  There isn't really a rule,  if you're wondering and nobody has brought it up to you,  just ask!  Say like,  do you guys think I should have a baby shower?  And see what their reactions are.  Maybe they just haven't thought about it yet?

My 3 best friends and my mom are the ones who threw mine. But it doesnt really matter, i know people who actually threw their own baby shower cause they didnt have anyone wto throw it themselves

My sister and aunt are throwing mine even tho it's my 2nd pregnancy and I had told them I didn't need a shower. I think it's different for every person, and there's no specific requirements on who can and can't throw the party. I think anyone who knows you, and wants to throw you a party is allowed as long as they get the ok from you! I do find it a little weird when moms throw their own, but it's not illegal by any means lol

I brought the idea up of a baby shower and my mom took it on board and is planning it herself. It is common that your mother/ mother in law/sister if you have one or even friend (maybe even all of them as many like to help out) to plan it but many women have planned their own too. You should just bring it up like 'so who wants the honour of planning my baby shower?' Lol
