Dilated Kidneys in ultrasound of my daughter
At our 19th week we had an anatomy ultrasound done. My doctor called us and reported everything was normal except there was dilation to both of her kidneys. She said this could be common in female fetuses, and likely she would grow out of it (I'm praying she does) some require antibiotics after birth, or in rare cases some require surgery after birth to correct. However, my husband was born with hydronephrotic kidneys (one was completely blocked) and did require surgery in the early weeks of his life after birth. I'm also praying that it's not gentetic and that our beautiful daughter doesn't have the same fate he did. If anyone is reading this and had the same experience and could offer some positive thoughts I'd appreciate it, or anyone who hasn't had the experience can say a little prayer for our girl that would mean a lot. I will see the high risk doctor as soon as I can get an appointment for a second opinion 🙏
