Would you have a baby shower after baby is born?

Hubby is stationed overseas, and we are expecting a baby boy in February. He is coming back in December and I originally wanted to have the baby shower then because he won't be back again until baby's birth. He told me it would be better to have it in February after baby is born although it is not traditional, I will feel more comfortable (not waddling around like a penguin) and the guests will get to meet the baby. I guess he has a point, but would you ever/have you have/had a baby shower after baby is born?
