when can a baby survive outside of the womb?

I'm 21 weeks and went into preterm labor today and they stopped it but they said it doesn't look like I'll make it much further. What is the earliest a baby can survive outside the womb?

I believe its 24 weeks... and thats not for sure or could be with developmental issues..im sorry

The EARLIEST recorded is a 21 week old baby girl who is a heathy toddler now. But most doctors consider 24 weeks as 'viable'. Praying you make it as LONG as possible because every single DAY makes a difference. Good luck, Hun.

Depends on your hospital and how good of a NICU they have. The standard is usually 24 weeks, I know very few who are equipped to handle micro preemies

24 weeks usually but I've heard of late 22-23 weeks also. Just depends on the baby and the level of care the baby receives. Some hospitals don't even bother to try and save a baby before 24 weeks

24 weeks is considered viable, but some hospitals will attempt life saving interventions at 22 weeks. The hospital im employed by is 22 weeks. Whatever you do make sure you're going to a tertiary care hospital with a great NICU just in case. Thinking about you girl
