nipple piercings ?

Who has left their nipple piercing on ? While breastfeeding ? I am planning on taking mine off I only have one pierced but the balls are so tight that I have to go to a piercing shop to get it removed . 🙄 or I was planning on breast feeding with the one that doesn't have a piercing and pumping the other. Is it dangerous ?

I had both of mine pierced and I decided to take them out. I plan on breastfeeding until baby self weans, if all goes as planned. So it just seemed like too much work to try and keep them in. If you keep them in you have to constantly take them in and out when you nurse and constantly clean the holes and jewelry to make sure bacteria isn't building up. That just seems like more extra work than it's worth, especially at the beginning when newborns are nursing almost every two hours. I'd rather just have them re-pierced after I'm done having children.

One we're pierced and I want to breastfeed and I don't want baby to have any issues . So i just took them out withing the first three months . Don't remember exactly when .

I ended up just taking mine out, it was to much of a hassle to take them out and put them back in. I was to paranoid to leave them in while breastfeeding.

In addition to what the other ladies have mentioned, you also have to take the jewelry out to feed because it can make the baby not able to latch correctly.

I have mine pierced and I'm planning on keeping them.  I was told at my breast feeding class to take the jewelry out when feeding so the baby doesn't choke on the jewelry.  The flow will be heavier, but I was told to lift your babies head up so it doesn't drink too much.

Hi! I don't have mine pierced, but I have a friend that had hers pierced, and removed hers when around 6 or so months pregnant. Her reasoning was a)the extra holes increase milk flow to baby which can be too much for some newborns to handle and b)the bacteria. Every time you go to breastfeed or pump you have to remove the piercing, clean the holes, and then clean and replace the piercing after.

That sounds like way too much effort 😂
