"Breastfeeding is for Poor people"?!?

Where the hell does that particular stigma come from? Because that's the dumbest thing I've heard this week.

I feel like it's a luxury for the wealthy now. LCs and the best pumps come with the best insurance.

Mothers who have more financial stability are more likely to stay home with their child or have a job with substantial leave that allows them the time, space to foster breastfeeding.
Finally, women with higher education levels tend to breastfeed more possibly because they have a greater understanding or appreciation for medical research that backs up breast is best.

Breastfeeding is also easier with a larger more flexible support network.

I see a cultural shift that formula feeding is for lower income brackets and BF is a luxury.

It's left over from marketing campaigns in the 40s and 50s when they really started pushing bottle feeding.

Uh, maybe in the 18th century....  Historically speaking, wealthier women used to have wet nurses that would do the breastfeeding of their children.  But I'm pretty sure that isn't a thing anymore.

I couldn't breastfeed my daughter, and people made negative comments about that.  I think the whole topic of breastfeeding in general makes people have weird opinions.

I ebf. Mainly because it felt right for me and my son. But also a little bit because we really didn't want to spend a fortune on formula. That stuff is expensive as hell!
