Sexuality talk with my new Gynecologist?

*Let me just say, I would have posted this in the LGBTQ groups. However, they aren't really active and I need advice.*
Okay, so I'm 19 and a lesbian. I'll be 20 in December, and have a girlfriend of two years. Whom I plan on marrying, I'm being transferred (by my choice) to a new gynecologist and women's health office that offers artificial insemination assistance and specializes in PCOS (which I have) and Endometriosis (I suspect I have it too). My problem is, how do I approach the topic of my being a lesbian with my new doctor?

I haven't ever told any doctor that I'm a lesbian, mostly because I'm a virgin and and once you answer "no" to the "are you sexually active?" Question, the sex talk usually doesn't go any farther. But I figure, if I'm going to be sticking with this doctor and clinic (which, I really hope to.) I need to get around to having that talk with this new doctor, I just don't know how to bring it up.

I feel like it's an important thing for a doctor to know, because obviously a lesbian couple won't be conceiving naturally and with my added fertility issues. We'd like to start TTC after we marry in the next year or two. So, how would you bring this up with the doctor?

Just say "my girlfriend (name) and I are looking to start a family once we marry in a few years. Can you give me information on how we go about that?" And you will know right away if this is a good dr for you with how they respond. I'm sure you are not the first lesbian couple to set foot in their office. Unless this is an incredibly small town or something.

Most doctor offices have new patient forms that you fill out before being seen for the first time. There should be an area for your personal history and another area for acute concerns. You can write "homosexual" or "lesbian" in the history section, and in the acute concerns write "interested in discussing IUI/ IVF". The doctor will look over the chart before he/ she sees you. If they don't, then I'd just bring it up in the room. Just say you are in a monogamous lesbian relationship and would like information on conceiving. I'd be sure to bring it up on the first visit though just to be sure they know! Good luck!

Could your partner go with you during the visit? That way it might be easier to bring it up or the dr will just figure it out? Like if your partner is there with you, you could say, "were planning on starting a family in the future" or something along those lines maybe? I'm straight so I'm really not sure if what I said is how to go about it, just throwing some ideas out there for you. Best of luck!

Donyou have sex with your partner?? Cause then you are sexually active regardless you dont have penetration. If the dr makes you feel comfortable and you feel you will continue a dr-patient relationship, you should be straight up. She should not judge you and you most feelings comfortable discussing your future plans.
