stripping membranes???

Starting Monday my doctor will do it every other day... has this ever worked for anyone?? If so what else did you do afterwards??? Thank you

My mom who's had 6 kids advised me not to have it done just because it doesn't always work and its messing with the nature of your body before its even time yet. My doctor hasn't said a word to me about this and ill be 38 weeks Wednesday

Why is doc wanting to do this? How many weeks are you? There really isn't a reason to do plus it can introduce infection.  I would refuse to have my membranes striped.

It took a couple tries with me before it actually did anything .. I went into labora couple days after the successful sweep but still ended up with a csection due to marconium.

My midwife said it only helps to set things in motion if baby is actually ready.... basically it can speed things up in that case, but otherwise, it does nothing.

My doctor told me that Monday once I hit 37 weeks they will do it every other day

I've had 4 previous babies and had sweeps with all sometimes it hurts and it all depends on how rough the doc is. Only the really painful sweeps helped me into labour x

Had mine stripped with my first,  water broke a week later. It hurts like a bitch and causes cramping and possibly some light bleeding. But it may or may not get things going. But if youre getting it done on the regular, it may do more progress than none. Best of luck!
