brown/red-blackish period blood

I started my period earlier in the day around noon, before i took a shower i took out my tampon and noticed the really dark blood. it looked almost black, some of it was brown. it's never been like this before.. should i be worried??? my man fingered me really intensely a couple days ago.. i don't know if that could have something to do with this....
