Twin Induction Birth Story

Jessie
I was to be induced at 36 weeks exactly due to some minor complications concerns: cholestasis, low weight on one baby, and low fluid on the other. I was so ready as I was super uncomfortable and really looking forward to having them safe and sound in my arms!
We went in at 7 am on the 13th. I was already 5 cm dilated! I wasn't feeling much just some contractions that felt like period cramps to me. They started me on pitocin at 10:45 am and I still wasn't feeling too much pain. I kept dilating all day and at around 7 cm they encouraged me to get an epidural just in case a c section was needed (both babies were head down). I went with it but at no point did I ever feel like I needed the pain relief. I could handle the period cramps!
At 6:45 pm I was fully dilated and it was time to start pushing. It started off easy enough but the farther she got the harder it got! Much like how this whole pregnancy has gone- easy in the beginning and hard at the end. I wasn't in pain I just felt like I was pushing against a wall that would not budge. I cried and wanted to give up but my support system (fiancé, mom, and great group of nurses) wouldn't let me. They brought me into the OR room when she was nearly there and I had another breakdown. I really didn't want to finish it out! But finally at 9:04 pm Lucy was born. I held her for about 20 minutes and let myself breathe. Throughout her entire labor all I kept thinking in the back of my head was how I couldn't believe I had to do this twice in a row. But with a few easy pushes my Tessa came out. And I couldn't have been more relieved.
I guess you could say my pregnancy and delivery were a dream come true. There were no major complications and I didn't tear or need stitches. Both babies are healthy and doing great despite being a little under 5 pounds. I am happy and bewildered that they are finally here but am so looking forward to taking on this challenge.
