Went in at 40 weeks 6 days in the evening to begin induction per Dr advise. Got checked in and cervadil (I think that what it was called) was inserted vaginally to help ripen cervix as I was only 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced at around 11 pm. Thought I would just sleep all night with that in, wrong! Just dozing off around midnight and felt a pop followed by fluid running between my legs. Called nurse in and yep, water broke! Was having some irregular mild contractions before water broke but after they got to be more and more intense and started to pretty much come every 5 minutes. Attempted breathing through contractions until 4:30 am and when I was checked again I had made absolutely no progress!! I had injured my hip earlier in the week and was already tense and limping when I went in and I think my body would just not relax. I had hoped to not use any pain meds but with no progress I knew I needed help. The epidural was in place by a little after 5 am. I was instantly calmer and finally fell asleep. Woke back up around 8 am to get checked and had gone from a 1 to a 10 in those 3 hours I slept and was very close to being ready to push!!! Dr was in surgeries so some pushing was a little delayed but our beautiful daughter was born at 1:22 pm! There was some meconium in the amniotic fluid so they had to make sure it was all cleared out before I got to hold her but it didn't take long. I am absolutely amazed and in love with all of her hair! 😍 I had no idea what to expect as a ftm, it was hard and I am sore but I am also ridiculously happy!!
