Genetic and early gender testing?!

I'm going in for genetic testing in 2 days at the 13 week mark. Do you have to pay extra to find out the gender early? I'm on Wellcare and I live in Georgia. If I have to pay, about how much would it be?

I did it and it didn't end up costing me anything. I have blue cross blue shield federal through my husband and regular blue cross blue shield through my employer. I used the harmony test. I am not 35+ or have any of the other risk factors.

It is covered if you are considered high risk for genetic disorders I believe-The out of pocket varies by state/office and I've seen people say it can be well over $1k or around a couple hundred. Call your insurance and check the coverage with them so you don't get stuck with a ridiculous bill.

Check with your insurance, but if you are not at a risk for genetic disorders or over 35, it can be very expensive out of pocket. I looked into having it done, but it was close to $3000 because I do not fall under either of those categories. Insurances are all different though, so it's worth asking!
