Is it normal to get stringy like discharge?

Throughout my pregnancy I've been getting stringy like discharge, it looks like mucus/snot! I know it's alittle gross but im just super curious as to what causes this? I've had so much different discharge through out my pregnancy it's crazy. Im a first time mom and definitely wasn't expecting all the new changes lol.
