bottle to breast??

When my daughter was born (9/14/16) I immediately breast fed her but by the second day in the hospital, (I had a c section) my milk hadn't fully came in and she was really fussy and she kept crying because she wasn't full😫 so she was given a bottle. Ever since she will not take my breast again! It's been more than a month and I have to exclusively pump but I feel like that's all I do!! I have to pump every 2 hours on the dot or my breast will be so full it hurts!! The problem is I have 2 other kids (6&7) and I feel like pumping takes up my whole day!! It would be easier if she took my breast!! Is there anything I can do or is it a lost cause??

Try offering breast first at every feeding! Maybe try a nipple shield as well?

Get a hands free pump so you can do whatever you need to do in the house while pumping. A lactation specialist can help you get your baby back on your breast. Good luck :)

I had a similar problem. The medela nipple shield worked great! I pumped her whole first week because she wouldn't latch, second week she took the shield (I went to a lactation consultant and she showed me how to use it), and the third week I was able to wean her off and now she is on the breast!
It took A LOT of patience, she would scream when I would offer her my breast without the shield. She was eventually able to latch. Some feedings we would have to add the shield back in bc she would get too upset when she would come off and not be able to latch back on. I would try to catch her before she got too hungry that way she wouldn't get as upset and frustrated when it took a while to latch. Sometimes it would take almost 5 minutes, so you really need to be patient!

my breastfeeding consultant said that a baby that is bottle fed could get lazy and doesn't like the flow of your breast compared to the flow of a bad it comes out a lot faster in the bottle so they don't want to work as hard trying to get it out of your breast

To me its a lost cause, once i had my baby she went to nicu for almost 2 weeks so she was used to bottles, baby wouldnt latch on .. so here i am a month later pumping every 2-3 hours 😞

I had the same problem as you. My milk didn't come in until day 4 so I had no choice but to bottle feed until then. But my daughter wouldn't latch to my breast. I bought a nipple guard and it worked like a charm! I guess the feel of it was familiar enough to her (much like a bottle nipple) and now she nurses like a champ. I bought mine off of Amazon.
