And if you had a hard time were you able to push past it? I'm determined to give my baby what I feel is best for him. And as an infant I had a hard time with formula so I figured I'd save he and I both the headache of trying to find a formula that works. I'm just nervous because none of my family or friends have positive breast feeding stories. It seems like they all gave up so easily. Is it really that hard?

It is definitely hard, but it's wonderful when the mommas are able to get past it and push through! My good friend BF for a full 12 months as did one of my cousins. I had my heart set on it 110% but didn't produce enough at first on top of my son not being able to latch. I pumped and gave him what little milk I could get out of my overly engorged breasts (once the milk all came in at once) and boy was it painful! My boobs felt as hard as a marble countertop & I ended up with two infections because of it. I made it 1 month before I got my second infection and had to stop because I couldn't even hold my son without it being excruciating. Moral of my story was that it could go either way! Some mom's really push through and are able to, while others just can't. And neither is right or wrong for it! As long as baby is fed and happy, that is the most important thing.

It can be hard at first but for me, once we got past the first few weeks it was great. There will be ebbs and flows of easy and hard but keep going, ask for help, and you can do it! I just never even let formula be an option to fall back on and luckily for us, I had enough milk for my babies and we just pushed through. I hear a lot of stories on here about how hard breastfeeding is or people giving up or them just not physically able to continue breastfeeding but what I will say is this: you will not know what breastfeeding is like for YOU until YOU try it. It could come so easily for you but you won't know until you are actually doing it. I had it really easy with both of my kids and nursed them for 17 months each. It was mostly smooth sailing after the initial learning curve and nipples getting used to being sucked on all the time. :) Give it a a chance and see what happens!
