Has someone ever yelled at you for not adopting your animals?

Has someone ever yelled/ told you off because you didn't adopt your animals from the animal shelter?

No but I've never had an animal I didn't rescue...

I was actually told I was stupid for adopting my kitten for $50 at a shelter because they said they're for free everywhere in the county. It wasn't exactly the point of adopting her, we wanted to save a kitty! Plus she's up to date on her shots and flea free! Everyone has to be judge mental about something!

I only rescue and understand the argument that if there wasn't a demand for breeding there would not be so many neglected dogs, but people have the right to get whatever type of dog they want. It's extremely rare to find certain dogs in a shelter and if that's what kind of dog that person wants that is their only option. People need to calm down. Just tell them you did rescue your dog 😂

We got our first dog from a pet store 😳😳😳 I know it's terrible! Lol. I don't usually tell people where we got her just to avoid the conversation because I now know better! My second dog we got off craigslist from someone rehoming him, so not rescued but probably would've ended up a shelter dog.

The most important thing is that your dog is taken care of. My neighbors leave their dogs outside day and night and they never get walked or played with. That's worse than buying from a breeder, IMO.

Where you got your dog is noones business. All that matter is that the dog is being loved and taken care of so that it doesn't end up in the shelter. I love dogs and my husband and I are thinking about getting a dog after our son is born. When we adopt, it would not be a shelter dog. Our kids are small and we want to raise our kids with their dog. It is your life, your choice and your money. No one has a right to throw their opinion in your face as if they are correct. They are not correct.

I haven't personally but I know people who have. And I kind of get it but at the same time it totally makes me mad. Like why are you yelling at someone because of their dog?

I'm allergic to a lot of breeds of cats and dogs. So I had to get a purebred dog and I went to a responsible very reputable breeder. I always try to donate things for shelters and have looked into adopting but it's been difficult. I don't shop at pet stores that sell animals. I love animals and if I could get one of the small purebred dogs I would absolutely adopt!

My husband and I tried so hard to adopt from a shelter. No joke EVERY SINGLE shelter near us, and they had no apartment friendly dogs, and we wanted one so bad that we ended up going to a breeder. 😬

We tried so hard to adopt a dog from a shelter and it never worked out.  I've in total adopted 2 and both had to go back. The first one was mean to me and my son. He would literally chew any toy that I bought for my son and then began deliberately peeing on our carpet. After he tried to bite me a few times I took him back. It's not like we're mean, I have another dog who's sweet as can be, this one just wasn't meant for us. The second was the same breed as my other dog. She was supposed to be house trained and she wasnt, but that was fine. I took her back because she kept trying to start fights with my other dog...the last straw was when she started it when I standing between her and my other dog. We needed to adopt that spring because I knew I wasn't going to work all summer and it was my last summer home until I went to work full time. I wanted to get all the training in before I went back to work. The shelters nearby had no younger dogs, because obviously the older dogs were not working out. We lucked out and found a German shepherd breeder who had a litter in the end of the spring. I hate it when someone is pissed at me because both my dogs are akc and not from the pound. I do support our local animal shelters as much as I can, but I guess that's not enough for some people.
