how long before BD should i apply pre-seed?

i plan on BD tonight and wanna know how long before bd'ing i should apply pre seed and how much you guys recommend. thanks!

Unfortunately I rarely know 15 minutes ahead of time if I'm even going to BD. I just use it as my regular lubricant.
