washing baby clothes ?!

Is it a thing to wash your baby clothes before they are here ? My mom keeps telling me to do it but she has so many clothes already 😱

I washed EVERYTHING😩. Clothes blankets, towels and wash cloths. I evem washed her little stuffed animals.

I washed all clothes, I still wash all clothes before my kids wear them. I've seen people pick their noses and touch clothes while shopping, sneeze on racks of clothes, and I can only imagine what else people have on their hands. Not to mention, they'll be soft and smell good when you wash them, instead of stiff and smelling like plastic. I don't understand why anyone wouldn't want to wash baby clothes, even if they choose not to use baby safe detergent.

Yep. Definitely a thing, and i would definitely do it. I know it sucks. I hated it, but i think it's necessary. Especially for little babies with brand new immune systems. You dont know where the clothes have been or who has touched them after doing what. Some toddler in the atore could have wiped their snotty nose on it, someone could have went to the rest room and not washed their hands before handling it, etc.

Yes!! It's important bc they can have germs on them from strangers handling them. As they get older it's less important bc their immune systems are stronger but as infants def wash!

Just wash the ones she's gonna fit in right away and then wash the other ones as she grows into them so you're not having to wash all these hundreds of clothes and also that way you can keep the tags on them if she outgrows them before she gets to wear them and you can exchange them or sell them

Definitely try to wash them as you need them. It will be a hassle but, most likely she won't wear all the clothes you bought since she grows so quickly. You can't return or exchange for a bigger size if they are washed!

I got a steamer and can easily sanitize them without all the hassle and messing them up.

New ones I wash like normal but used ones (hand me downs or from gently used stores) I did an oxi-clean soak to them. You'll feel better about it once it's done

I never did with my two kids. And they are just fine. I'm 4 weeks away from having my third and the only clothes I have washed are the ones given to me not the new ones.
