pumping?

I feel like I'm doing this wrong! I started pumping today for the first time. I fed my daughter at 8 and then pumped right after like our LC recommended, but I barely got anything. Is that normal for the first time pumping? Should I wait longer after feeding her before pumping? I'm not going back to work until next year, so I have time, but it would be nice to leave the house once in a while and not worry about feeding her! Any suggestions on how to start pumping?

I had the same experience. I still, at 4 weeks, don't pump very much. No one ever told me that you don't fill up the jars right away. You produce what your baby needs. He act of pumping, even when it doesn't yield a result, tricks your body into thinking it needs to be making more. Eventually you'll start pumping 10 cc, then 15, then an ounce at a time. But it takes time.

One week pp and I'm only producing an ounce a boob each session. My baby currently drinks 2 oz at a time so it works. I'm trying to eat oatmeal, wheat, and drink a dark beer each night to help produce more. I know it will come, just takes time and keep pumping to tell boobs you need more!

I didn't start storing 6 ounce freezer bags until about 2 months postpartum. When my baby ate at least 4 ounces. Then I would pump when I first woke up, then again 4 hours later. I pump when they feel full.
