Lotus birth?

Would you consider a lotus birth (leaving umbilical cord attached)? If yes, why?
 If No, why?

Personally I want to look after my new baby boy and not have to worry about a placenta. There's no research that says keeping the cord/ placenta attached after it stops pulsing gives any benefits to baby correct me if I'm wrong ? Also it's kinda gross lol each to their own though!
