Fighting through the pain
It's been going well since about a week after my little guy was born... then last night after we hit the 3rd week... my nipples felt like a million nerve ending stinging so bad even hours after breastfeeding. My whole body was shaking and my legs felt like stinging nettles when breastfeeding him during the night feedings. Broke down crying, baby was crying hysterically... I fought through the pain tho. Lathered on nipple cream, took a hot shower, iced after... aired out my breasts/no material on them. Today they are getting back to normal thank god... I was seriously contemplating switching him immediately to formula which I would do if need be, no problem i couldn't handle the idea of another round of night feedings like last night. If I started to dread nursing him, I would switch, just not healthy. That pain was too much for me... so many times I had the desire to pull him off because the pain was so bad but made it thru somehow. Hope it doesn't come back.
Here's to all the moms fighting thru the pain and doing what they have to do for their little one and themselves. Stay healthy and nurturing whether thru breastfeeding or formula!!
