when did you first take your newborn out?

My newborn is exactly a week old and has only been to a few places other then the doctors. Before we left the hospital, the nurse advised us that it's not safe to take the baby outside the house for 8 weeks... I can't see myself staying inside for 8 weeks... I get that his immune system isn't that strong but wouldn't it make sense to slowly take him outside every now and then so he can start building his immune system? Idk just my thought... when did you start taking your newborns outside and to other places?
