So I don't see why people think they have a right to lay hands on a child.

I see spanking and hitting as two different things, odd as that sounds. I know I'm in the minority here, but to me, a spank is a light, painless swat on the butt to get your kid's attention. Hitting is abuse. I was spanked as a kid when I deserved it and it never hurt - I just remember feeling embarrassed enough to knock off whatever shit behavior I was displaying. My parents would never hurt me and to this day I love them and respect them to the highest degree. I'm well adjusted and nowhere near traumatized.

I'll never hit or hurt my kid, but a swat to the butt is not out of the question for me.

My 2 1/2 year old son sometimes thinks its funny when hes being bad and you tell him no over and over. He just laughs and keeps doing it. -_- other than that he doesn't get spanked. I try and use my words as much as possible.  His daddy tho is a firm believer in spanking, but ive got him broke on that ;) unless our boy is laughing at us when we get onto him. Lol he can be quite ornery lol

No. I was never spanked as a child. I don't think it's fair to physically hurt someone who is still learning right from wrong. Use your words. It teaches your child to use theirs when they need to talk to you as well.

Do I plan on hitting my child, No because they will be an angel 😇 lol. But certain situations I think call for different punishments. At this point, I can't even imagine yelling at my sweet girl because I feel like her and I have such a strong connection and she will be a good girl, but I've been around my friends with kids and see how kids test the limits of their parents. I hope my child will respect me enough as their parent to never get me to the point of a spanking, but you never know.

Yes I do if I feel the situation calls for it. My mom "used her words" with my brother and never spanked him once and he was a terror. He beat my mom and me almost every day my entire childhood.
