Is this selfish of me?

As you all know, Christmas is just around the corner and I know that I am going to get nothing but baby stuff for Christmas. It's not that I don't appreciate it, it's just that the baby won't be here until may and I just wanted one more Christmas as just me, not me the mom if that makes any sense. Lol. Does anyone else feel the same way or am I just a jerk ?

I think it's really strange that you'd get gifts for a baby that won't even be there for an additional 6 months.

In my family once I had children i stopped expecting gifts. Whatever someone give me you even if it's baby stuff should be appreciated.

My birthday is 12/3 and my due date is 12/4-  I fear my birthday and Christmas will be more stuff for the baby, and I'll cry if it's more useless newborn outfits. I know that sounds selfish, but I totally understand where you're coming from! I want to learn to sew, it'd be cool to get a sewing machine. I like to read, books are always good. I enjoy crafts. I'm a Christian and love all the crosses, bibles, etc. I'm a writer. I want to get rid of my "old" waredrobe and start a new one- so gift cards would be cool! I like VS perfume. My favorite artist is doing a show in February, tickets would be cool. I could go on and on Lol! So many things I'd enjoy getting, especially since this entire year has been about the baby, but both sides of the family are really overly excited and focused on the new birth.

Try asking or hinting for MOM stuff. Like maternity clothes or body washes to pamper with.

Omg me too I just had my birthday and half that shizz was baby stuff.  Like of course I'm grateful but it's hello just because I'm having a baby dosent mean I do think want stuff too.  Lol

I think its nice to get stuff just for you. I have a 13 month old and told dh I wanted to be able to go get a cute maternity outfit for Christmas to boost  my confidence since I'll be like 30 weeks pregnant by then. I know most of the focus will be on ds but it's nice to be appreciated at the same time.

My MIL gave me a Babies R Us gift card for my birthday the first week of Oct. and Baby isn't even due til Feb. I was little put off thinking "gee thanks, what am I now? Only just the vessel to your grandchild and no longer my own individual person?" So I totally get where you're coming from. She also mentioned getting us a big ticket item off the registry for Christmas. My shower is in the beginning of Nov. and I sincerely hope and plan to have all Baby purchases complete before Christmas. I think my MIL is weirdly insane, lol. I just think people get so excited for the baby's arrival and can't see past that. Also I'm sure my own family will gift us baby things for Xmas the more I consider it.

If it's selfish, then we both are. I also have a December birthday so I'm already a bit goofy about Christmas presents. I won't even know the gender at Christmas so the idea of getting baby stuff is kinda silly to me.
