External Cephalic Version - Flipping a breach baby

Martalee
Tuesday I learned my baby was breach at 37 weeks 6 days. I decided to try for the External Cephalic Version and see if the Doctor could flip her around! The other option was to schedule c section which scared the crap out of me because I really want a vaginal birth. It is more beneficial for baby to go through birth canal, and naturally that's how it's to be done! I heard trying to flip a baby is painful and I was very nervous and scared, also worried something could go wrong. I had the ECV this morning and it was a success! I would encourage other women to give it a go if your baby is breech. Don't let the fear of pain prevent you from trying. The Doctor pushed up on her butt and down on her head. It is painful but nothing us ladies can't handle! And it was probably only 1 or 2 minutes! It's just a lot of pressure and you want to squirm away, then I felt a pinch sensation, and the thought "I can't handle this, please stop!" thought crossed my mind but then he was done! They checked baby heart rate and she had flipped around! Now I pray she stays head down and I wait for labor and contractions to happen naturally! I felt I needed to share my experience since a lot of women go right for the c section without trying to flip a breach baby. I'm not saying c sections are bad or wrong, just not quite as beneficial for baby in long run, and it is a major surgery! It's all about the baby at this point, I can handle any pain or uncomfortableness if it benefits her in any way.
