No baby shower?

Question

I'm just about 26 weeks and no one has mentioned throwing me a shower yet (and I will not throw one for myself). Should I assume it's just not happening and go buy everything left that I need myself?

Why won't you throw one for yourself. I am, because I have definitely come to realize who my friends are. Plus showers can be expensive I wouldn't wanna make someone spend money they don't have. Between my mother and myself we have put together an awesome party and I can't wait for it. Plus everything will be exactly the way i want.

We can't possibly tell you what any of your friends or family will do, perhaps you should ask them? Otherwise, yes, if you're unwilling to throw one yourself, assume you won't be having one.

I made the decision not to have one myself.  My "support system" offered then forgot... And no there's no surprise coming.  I know them. I was going to plan my own,  but for the money I can just buy most of the stuff I need.  That's what we opted to do and we're ok with it.  My MIL freaked out and said we HAVE to have  one (she's very traditional). I told her we certainly don't have to do anything but love and provide for our child and that's exactly what we'll do! You do whatever feels right for you.  Also,  express to your family friends how you feel so you're not secretly holding a grudge for standards/ expectations they didn't know were expected of them. I do that myself sometimes.  Good luck mama!

No one talked to me about throwing me one until this week (31 weeks). We've just been buying the big stuff and were planning on finishing getting anything we needed on Black Friday (which we'll still be doing since the shower is the weekend before). Never expect or count on anyone else to get you anything until the object is in your hands 😊 but you've got plenty of time still!

I wasn't going to have one at all, but my inlaws threw a surprise one for me when I was visiting them.
I don't see why you won't throw one for yourself. As some people have mentioned, they can be a little expensive and some of the people in your life may not be able to afford it.
I didn't because I was moving and all of my very important people were thousand of miles away.

Also my mom planned mine in less than two weeks at 30weeks pregnant I had it with my son I was 36 weeks she planned it in a week with that one. I know many moms at 36 weeks haven't had their baby showers yet.

I had the same issue finally last weekend my mom had planned me one barely got anything I needed my fiancées sister had told him she's planning me one we aren't close but it's his first so it's kinda for him? I dono but no one has said when or anything I don't even really know anyone but his parents and siblings so I have no idea who would even come at all. I'm 31 weeks now and want to start getting everything ready just to keep realizing I don't have anything like I have some clothes and a few packs of diapers and nothing else I don't have anything for feeding or bathing hardly any newborn stuff no car seat (someone had offered to buy still hasn't) I dono if I have to buy my own or if I'll end up getting it before I'm due it's just I don't have the money my fiancé has been having issues with his paychecks the last THREE and they aren't resolving it!
