shave before giving birth?

I had planned to get an Brazilian wax at least a week before I went into labor. (I'm a first time mom & didn't want to look disgusting) but since I'm in the hospital on bed rest until I give birth I can't get one. Do you think I could just get someone to shave me? I really don't want to freak anyone out because it's looking mighty rough down there. I know they say they don't care but I do! I hate getting checked because I feel disgusting. I think it'll put me in a better mental state as well lol
