When and where and how to do a baby registry?

I have no idea how or when or anything about this as I'm a ftm any help would be great thank you.

I ended up registering at one place only because I was nervous people wouldn't look at both sites. Here was my time consuming process...I picked out what I wanted (I'm buying all of the things I need so I registered for all of the nice to haves", and then looked each item up on Buy Buy Baby, Target and Babies R Us. I found everything at Target for slightly cheaper so, that's the place I picked.

We decided to go with Babies R Us and Amazon. BRU is expensive but you get rewards when people buy stuff for you, I think it's 10% of the cost. So you get money back to put towards stuff you did get as a gift. Amazon just because they are amazing and have everything for less than retail stores.

A lot of sites will allow you to register without making it public until you're ready. I've started two with Amazon and target and don't plan to make public until December, in case someone wants to buy something for Christmas (although I doubt it).  If you're having a baby shower, make sure the registry is complete before invites go out.

I would check the perks for different registrations. I believe Amazon gives you a one time 10% off of what's left on your list, and I believe Target is 15%.

I use babylist.com, it's all online and you can add from any store and online site. It's nice having it on one source and they track increase or decrease in price for you. And you have privacy setting available.
