finger food

My feb born is almost 9 months and she won't open her mouth to eat. But I guess she is a little better with finger food. It won't go in her stomach but she keeps it in her mouth for few seconds and then spit it. What do you mommies started with finger food and how do you make your lil one to eat? I try giving her fruits like apple n banana and puffs. What are other options?
