How to get rid of fleas!

My family has had fleas for a few months now and they're disgusting. I'm bite up and always itchy! We can't afford to get the flea bombs and I have no idea how to get rid of them without them. Does anyone know any home remedies?! I'm so afraid that I'll end up bringing them to my boyfriends house and I don't want to because it's digusting.
