It has been a long journey to get here, but 3 IUIs and I round of IVF later and I am thrilled to have finally made it. I am 30 years old and very healthy, but I have PCOS and therefore do not ovulate regularly each month. And we all know you can't get pregnant if you are not ovulating. It took the right doctor and the right cocktail of medications to get me ovulating, but we were unfortunately still not getting pregnant with the IUIs. And now I was getting tired of the process and knew my chances would be much higher with IVF (65% vs. 20%).
IVF was definitely a journey of its own, especially because my extremely high number of eggs puts me at high risk for ovarian hyperstimuation. But I am fortunate that everything went very well and we were able to retrieve 42 eggs! Of those 42 eggs, 37 were mature, 27 were then fertilized, and 13 survived the blastocyst. Because we were lucky enough to have 13 embryos, we decided to also do PGS testing and confirm which embryos were chromosomally normal. Of the 13 embryos, we ended up with 8 healthy embryos- 4 boys and 4 girls!
From there we completed a frozen embryo transfer of 1 of the 4 boys and finally saw those two beautiful lines on a pregnancy test last week. We are over the moon excited and praying for continued positive results and a healthy baby!
