I'm concerned if I should get a flu shot or not? Have you ladies who are mothers or anyone who had some knowledge about the influenza vaccine let me know it it's safe or harmful for our unborn babies?

Totally safe. They give you a type without live virus, you can't get sick from it. You're more at risk from flu complications.

Look up the vaccine insert and read it for yourself to make your own decision. I'm not talking about the patient print out, I'm talking about the 9-12 page prescribing info sheet. I will never get a flu shot, especially while pregnant. One of the main reasons is because they have not been tested for safety during pregnancy, yet they will "register" you once you've had the shot. So......that's how they are testing it. No thanks.

I'm getting it at my OB appointment tomorrow. I've never had one and I'm not concerned about me personally but I do want my baby to have that immunity going into flu season. I'm 39 weeks

Yes. I got mine at 28 weeks. I'm at 34 weeks now and still doing good. My boyfriend got one as well.

I'm more concerned about the long term affects a vaccine that has not been thouroughly tested could have, more than I am about whether or not it will make me sick or if it's as effective as they say. I have never had a flu shot in my life and I don't give them to my kids either. This is my 3rd pregnancy and I will be declining it again this season. I do other vaccinations but I don't trust the flu vaccines. Most vaccines are researched and tested for years before released to the public. Because the flu vaccine is different every year, they aren't able to test and research those vaccines for nearly as long, most likely a matter of months, not years. They change the antigens in the vaccine every year to coincide with the strain they are GUESSING will be most common this season and keep everything else the same but that is enough of a change that that I want that vaccine to be tested and researched for YEARS before I'm comfortable with it. I will not be injecting myself or my children with a vaccine that is not throughly tested.

I got one. I have asthma and work in a clinic so it's a no brainer to get a flu shot for me. I would ask your doctor about the specifics when it comes to risks.

I got one. I usually get a low fever, but this year I didn't and instead had a sore arm! No biggie. It doesn't seem to have bothered anything.

If I weren't pregnant, I may have skipped it. I work with children, so I'm exposed to pretty much everything.
