NB vs. 0-3 month?

I'm 33 weeks today and trying to finish up our hospital bag this week. We're due with our baby boy on December 19th, and I'd like to have a Christmas-y onesie for him to come home in but I'm not sure which size to buy. Are the outfits you're taking to the hospital/birthing center NB or 0-3 months? I can't tell much difference in them but curious to know what other mamas are doing! Thanks!

I've never bought a newborn sized outfits. My boys were 8 lbs + so 0-3 mo fit them fine

I think newborn is pretty safe, my nephew was born 9lb 11oz and 0-3 still swallowed him. If you do still go 0-3, I would recommend the Gerber brand because it runs small. When my daughter is transitioning sizes I use Gerber for when she is too big for her current size but too small to fully move up to the next.

Even big babies will still wear newborn clothes in the first weeks (most cases)

It all depends on baby's size and the brand of clothing. My daughter was 7lb 3oz at birth and wore newborn all the way to 5 weeks old. In my opinion, the Carter's brand does run a little small... just thought I would throw that out there in case you look at that brand.

I wish I would've packed newborn sized clothing for my daughter and also wish that we would've bought some extra newborn onesies for her altogether. She was 7 lbs 9 oz at birth. She's almost 7 weeks now, nearly 11 lbs and still fitting in newborn sizes perfectly, some brands are even still being too big on her. Some of the 0-3 stuff that I've picked up from Target is able to fit her now but the vast majority of those sized onesies are still gigantic on her.

Sizing seems to vary a lot depending on the brand - a lot of 0-3 stuff I've seen that also has a weight range on the label says 10lbs+ though.  Based on my last growth scan my baby will probably be around 7lbs, so I've got newborn clothing for him - the 0-3 stuff would swamp a 7lb baby.
