Is It Safe To Skip The Sugar Pills?

I'm going on holidays in 2.5 weeks and it turns out that I will have my period the week that I am away. I have been on the pill last Christmas and have had my period each month. My mum said that I can just skip them and that a lot of people do it but I am a bit scared to skip the sugar pills although I don't want to have my period as it is a roadtrip and it will just suck having my period on holiday. So my question is; is it safe for me to skip the sugar pills? 
Also if I do will it affect my period in any way for the following month?

completely safe :-) just don't do it more than once consecutively, ensure you have your period next month. It may be heavier or last longer and you may experience spotting known as break through bleeding so take some thin liners with you just in case

It's safe to skip them. I personally don't because it throws me off, and I don't want to skip my other medicine lmao. So I still take them but it is safe if you dont

If the rest of your pills are all the same dosage you can but if it's a different dosage every week it might not work (in my experience) but either way it's safe

Perfectly fine to skip them, just be careful because if you are away and don't have them with you, you are screwed and then gonna have to deal with breakthrough bleeding. Not fun.

I never take my sugar pills. They're there mainly to keep you in the habit of taking a pill, they don't actually hold any medicinal purposes. Just mental reminders really haha

I've skipped them before because I straight up just forgot to bring my pack with me. Nothing happened so I think you should be fine.
