Should I get a vaginal ultrasound at 7 weeks or wait until 12 weeks?

vaginal ultrasound at 7 weeks or wait until 12 weeks?" /> Hi, I'm looking for some advice. I am 6 weeks pregnant today and have been offered an early scan at 7 weeks due to a chemical pregnancy in July. 
One of my friends miscarried 3 times and each of these times she had a vaginal scan around the 7 week mark. With her 4th pregnancy she waited until 12 weeks and got an abdominal scan and went on to have a healthy pregnancy and baby. Despite all articles and midwife telling her the early vaginal scans in first 3 pregnancies did not contribute to miscarriage she believes it did.
What are your thoughts? Does a vaginal scan effect the baby? Should I go at 7 weeks or wait until 12? Any advice or sharing your own experiences would be much appreciated.

If there was any risk associated with transvaginal ultrasounds, doctors would not do them.

Vaginal ultrasounds do not cause miscarriages. I've had 3. One with my first pregnancy and 2 with this one. And I have a healthy 4 year old and am 26 weeks pregnant with my second.

I had 3 transvaginal ultrasounds done within the first 12 weeks, all of them being for different reasons. I also had to have one at 20 weeks to check for proper thickness and funneling of the cervix. I've now got a perfect little 7 week old baby girl so I wouldn't worry about them causing miscarriages.

I had a vaginal scan at 7 weeks and I'm now 27 weeks with a healthy baby. It's important you make sure everything is as it should be. They know what they're doing

I'm a 36yo first time mum, now 25 weeks along 🙂 I had a transvaginal scan at 8 weeks (can't hear baby's heart at that stage though). And another at 10 weeks (heard baby's heart then). I barely felt the wand. My fiancé's 🍆 is more obvious, and I've been having that all throughout! Lol
 
I can't see how the t/vag wand could have anything to do with your friend's miscarriage. I think it was just a coincidence. I imagine after 3, you'd look for reasons why & patterns to make some kind of sense of the losses.

I've had 7 vaginal ultrasounds, including one this week at 28 weeks... no harm to baby.  They don't get that close to baby.

With a vaginal ultrasound it doesn't go in deep at all. I don't know how on earth it can cause a miscarriage. You'd have a higher chance of getting a miscarriage during sex, even though that's also impossible. I'd definitely go with the 7 weeks scan. Nothing to worry about.

I've got a lots of tranvaginal scan because I had an ectopic before,I had at 4,5,6,7 weeks and everything it's ok,I don't think that can cause a miscarriage,just my opinion:)

There may have been other reasons why your friend was having to have ultrasounds at 7 weeks, as it's not common practice unless it's for dating/bleeding/previous history/medical concern.  I have had 4 ultrasounds (two transvaginal at 7 & 8 weeks, two abdominal at 11 & 13 weeks) and baby still doing fine at 15 weeks.  For me after a miscarriage two months before falling pregnant again, the ultrasound was reassuring that the baby was doing well.
