those of you who have Medicaid. what did you pay to give birth?

I have united healthcare as primary insurance and Medicaid as secondary insurance because through my insurance I will still owe $6,000 for labor and delivery.

I was wondering if Medicaid would pay for all of that is left after my primary covers it's part? I've called and asked and no one has an answer for me.

If you gave birth on Medicaid- what did you pay out of pocket?

Oh and when we're u able to add ur baby to ur Medicaid? We're his shots and such covered before u called Medicaid and added them?

I had Medicaid throughout my whole pregnancy and never paid anything out of pocket. The baby was pre-registered as baby A so Medicaid was aware of my pregnancy and the baby. So she was covered entirely at the hospital and she is now for all other medical needs. They dropped me though!! After I had her they were like 👋🏽 but I'm very thankful to have had that help!!

I have medicaid and had it for my last pregnancy. Everything is 100% covered. I haven't paid anything yet nor did I with my first. I wasn't aware you were able to even get medicaid with having primary insurance.

I also had Medicaid as secondary insurance; it was during unpaid maternity leave. The only bill I ever got from the hospital was for $9.

Yes medicaid will pick up all the expenses after your primary insurance pays first. So you should not have to pay anything - as a matter of fact IF you EVER get a bill, DON'T pay it! Medicaid will pay the bill but they can't reimburse you for anything you've already paid for.

I live in KY and had Medicaid my whole pregnancy. They covered everything including an elective induction at 40 weeks, 36 hours in the hospital in a private room, and automatically signed my son up after he was born.

It might depend on your income. If you make over a certain amount of money you may have to pay a percentage of the cost. I wouldn't worry about it too much because you probably won't be responsible for any of the cost if you are eligible for mcaid.
