Using pacifiers (update)

So I was super against using a pacifier for my baby to be (due in January). My aunt was just telling me how they have actually been proven to reduce the risk of SIDS. Now i am on the fence about them. What are your opinions on it?

*I plan on breastfeeding so if there are any brand recommendations that would be great too!*

UPDATE: thank you everyone for your responses! I have taken my Google research and your opinions into account and I think I'll be using a pacifier.
