birth control implantation?

I've been recently considering getting the BC implant that they stick in your arm under your skin(not sure what's it's called exactly)....I'm not currently sexually active but I am in a serious relationship and see us being sexual in the future .I have really heavy periods and horrible cramps during my cycle and wanted to know if this method of birth control actually helps with that. If any one has any pros or cons about this method please let me know!!! ❤️
