Tampon related question

I rarely use tampons, mostly just on occasions where I'm going out and don't want to be bothered too badly. Yesterday was one of those days. It was a long day and I ended up using two tampons. The first one I actually had a bit of a problem because it ended up leaking. The second I didn't leave in quite as long (about 4 hours) and I went back to using a pad. This was around 8:30 last night, and since there i have had no bleeding at all on the pad, and on one account when I went to the bathroom around 12 last night I seen a very light trace on toilet paper. There's still nothing showing up now. This is supposed to be day 3 of my period, and mine typically lasts 5 days. So is this normal sounding at all, that it's literally just seemed to stop? Or would it be crazy to ask if there is some type of possibility that some piece of tampon could still be there stopping it? I wouldn't think it could be, because I'm sure it was all "together" when I discarded it. But it's beginning to paranore me.
