I had severe morning sickness in my first trimester, and the heartbeat stayed pretty consistent around 153. I'm having a boy. 
The only "pregnancy tale" I believe is how you carry the baby. 
With my daughter she was always kinda high. I was able to wear my pre pregnancy jeans all throughout my pregnancy with just unbuttoning them. This time the baby is so low! I can't wear pants at all because it's so uncomfortable. It's like he just rests between my hip bones
