First period on the pill

My periods normally are heavy, but i cramp very little. This month, I began Emoquette, and began my period today, on the second reminder (hormone-free) pill. In other words, my period has come as planned. But i am getting large amounts of cramps, and my flow was very heavy, with lots of chunks. I had to change a super tampon after less than an hour. I'm under the impression that this will change in the coming months, but I want to know others' experiences. I lost my virginity since my last period. I don't see any reason for it to be a factor, but is it possible?

Is a heavy period reason to be concerned, if its extremely out of the ordinary?
