Likely hood of getting pregnant

What's the likelihood unprotected sex while on my period he came inside me three separate times. I started my birth control the following day as I was going to start taking it regardless we just ended up having sex before I did.. and also how long does the birth control take to go into effect I know it wouldn't stop a pregnancy that has already began has anyone become pregnant while they were on their period also my period stopped the next day
