Im 32 weeks and doctors keep insisting i get pertussis shot is it safe?

It absolutley is! Watch a video or it in youtube. It is terrifying to hear a tiny newborn gasping for a single breath. PLEASE get the vaccination.

It is perfectly safe and it's extremely important to get during pregnancy because it will help pass on antibodies to your baby who will be too young to vaccinate for several months. The pertussis shot and flu shot (particularly during flu season) are really important for pregnant women to get.

It's a new recommendation for pregnant women. They started recommending it in 2011 or so. I did my research before making my decision, because I'm always worrying about long term effects. My advice would be to do your research before you decide!

Not only am I getting it but my family members are all getting theirs if they want to hold the baby. Adults can be carriers without symptoms and it can be extremely hard on babies and even fatal. My neighbor caught pertussis in her late 20's and it was absolutely horrible I can't imagine a baby having to go through it.

I didn't get it until right after I gave birth. Everyone else in the household got it too.

I got it 2 weeks ago, it helps with baby getting the antibodies for whooping cough that they can get until 6 weeks needles. It's also a personal choice for you, it's entirely up to you. The doctors wouldn't suggest it, if it was unsafe.

This is interesting to read and wish I would have known sooner. My doctor didn't give me one until the day after labor and I was worried about my son getting it before he was old enough for the shot.
