Did you buy formula just in case?

I plan to breastfeed, but I know that some people have a difficult time with supply. If you plan to breastfeed, will you buy formula before baby is born, just in case breastfeeding doesn't work out?

I didn't. I was extremely determined to make it work, and it did. I nursed for 18-19 months with each child.

I feel like I order to make a commitment you shouldn't buy the cheat to have as back up. If nursing doesn't work for you you can go and get formula but having it in the house already won't make you motivated. In my head if I was to stop smoking I wouldn't buy a pack of cigarettes to keep as back up

I planned to exclusively breastfeed but I was producing Enough for baby. Thank god we had formula samples from free give a ways because they were a life saver! Yes have a thing of formula just in case!

I have a few samples on hand and I've heard the hospital will send you home with a litttle, too. I am really hoping to breastfeed but if it doesn't work out there's a supermarket around the corner - she won't starve!!

If you're worried. Go onto the formula websites and sign  up for their samples and coupons. 
 They usually send a full size can when its close to baby's due date.

No, I plan to breastfeed but my doctors office did give us a couple cans of formula just in case. It was sort of a congratulations gift. It wouldn't hit to keep a few cans. When I had my first child. I breastfed for the first month then developed and infection in which she and I kept passing back and forth. So the doctor switched her to formula until the thrush/infection was cured. My baby ended up taking to the formula and did not want breast milk.

Absolutely. I'd rather be safe than sorry. I'd hate to need it in some kind of emergency and have to go buy it instead of just being able to grab it from the cupboard.

With my first two the hospital had formula and they gave us some to take home even though I was breastfeeding. If you breastfeed the recommendation is no bottles until you have found a comfortable and consistent latch, I think it's supposed to be two weeks or something though it'll vary.  Then if you want to supplement or pump and give bottles you can. Of course, it's totally up to you how you handle feeding. But I wouldn't buy formula until you know you need it since you'll probably get some from the hospital and you can get free samples from companies. My second baby refused every bottle and every kind of formula. We wasted a lot of money on that.
