He forgot...

So my boyfriend and I are long distance and have been our whole relationship. Today was our one year anniversary. I woke up at midnight last night to tell him happy anniversary and I had to tell him it was our anniversary at 6 tonight. He says he forgot and keeps apologizing but it hurts my feelings. He said its really not that important and I shouldn't be upset. My question is would anyone else be upset or am I just over reacting?
