First OB appointment

My very first doctors appointment is the first week of December. There weren't any earlier available appointments. I'll be 10 weeks then. That just seems like such a long time to wait before my first appointment. I don't even know what I'm supposed to be doing right now. Whar if I'm eating or doing something I'm not supposed to. Is it normal for the doctor to not even bring you in before your appointment to do confirmation blood work? I'm just freaking out about this.
