postpartum birth control?

Hey ladies. I would like a few of you guys opinion on the Mirena birth control. I just had my baby Wednesday and went to the dr today for my week follow up and we discussed birth control. Since I was on the pill and conceived 2 children.. my dr recommend this type. I have never had a IUD before. I don't know much about it. He will insert it in 5 weeks. My question is..

1)  how does it feel when it is inserted?

2) does it hurt?

3) can you feel it after?

4) what should I know about it??

I had the Mirena for about 2 years. Installing it was a little unpleasant, but nothing you can't handle. Once I met my partner (now husband) and we started having sex, it was painful for both of us. But I have to say that my husband is unusually large. There are 2 copper wires that stick out of your IUD and it poked him in the penis. And it was painful for me, because he would actually reach it. I had it checked to see if it was installed ok, and it was. So I decided to take it out and go back on the pill again. It was nice not to have a period for so long, but on the other hand, you are stopping nature to do its job.

I had the mirena iud before pregnancy and will be getting it after the birth. I loved it, it lessened my hormonal swings. It can be a bit painful getting inserted but feels like a few painful cramps and is done.

I had paraguard for 3 years. It's a completely hormone free intravaginal IUD and it's made of copper which is a natural spermicide. 
I never felt it ever. And it was only uncomfortable to have it inserted so definitely have someone with you so they can drive you home. A heating pad for the next few hours is a must as it feels like intense period cramps.

I had light spotting for a month but short light to no period of 3 years.

I had it removed 6 months before getting pregnant and the removal was quick and painless.

I had the mirena for 5 years. It's a little uncomfortable going in, mostly just crampy so they tell you to take 2 advil or sleeve an hour before the appt. And that helps. You'll have some spotting, maybe a little heavier bleeding.  You may need to get the strings cut if your partner is hitting the strings. They are just flimsy plastic. You may stop your period all together.  I did.  I didn't have any problems with it
